ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Lindy Davenport. I’m running for Clarke County School Board because I love this community, and I want to give back by investing in quality education for today’s kids and tomorrow’s.
As a young person with deep roots in the community, I’m committed to keeping Clarke County Public Schools as good as they are, and improving them where possible, for both this generation and generations to come.
I work as a management consultant in federal contracting. This means that it is my job to tackle clients’ most pressing business issues by researching and understanding the context, understanding the needs and perspectives of all stakeholders, and recommending the best path forward. I can’t wait to bring these skills to help Clarke County Public Schools.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors in the beautiful nature that our area offers.
Together we can prepare, empower, and engage our students, educators, parents, and community to keep Clarke County schools strong, and make them stronger.
WHY I'M THE BEST CHOICE
As a young person and lifelong Clarke County resident, I understand our community and what makes it special. I will be a leader that protects what makes Clarke County special while preparing us for the future.
Keep Clarke Schools Strong, and Make Them Stronger
We are lucky in our community to have great schools — I am committed to keeping it that way and working hard to improve wherever possible. I will keep our schools focused on providing quality education:
- Emphasizing the essential skills of reading, writing, math, science, and history
- Providing opportunities for hands-on technical experience
- Fostering life skills such as physical education and the arts
- Supporting special education
Prepare Students for Success
- As a young professional, I understand first-hand the skills required to succeed in the early career job market.
- I believe in the value of understanding technologies used in business, as well as the enduring value of traditional subjects like reading, writing, math, science, and history.
- Clarke County Public Schools should prepare students for whatever path they take after high school. I support programs that serve every kind of learner, including strong technical education, rigorous academics and college preparedness, and special education.
Engage and Support all Community Members
- Teachers are at the heart of our schools. Clarke schools compete with neighboring districts to attract and retain excellent teachers. We need to support our teachers with competitive compensation packages, mentorship and growth opportunities, and a strong community.
- During my campaign so far, I have had conversations with hundreds of Clarke County community members including many parents, teachers, administrators, as well as students and recent graduates. I see these conversations as the foundation of a relationship that will enable me to best represent our community on the school board.
